Lovely Links

Happy Friday, y'all! Man, it's been too long since I shared a Lovely Links post. I decided to take a break in the fall and, whoops!, ended up taking a longer-than-expected one. I've got a backlog of awesomeness from around the web and I'll share six of my favorites today. Enjoy!

1 | Jones Design Company launched a course called Simplified Handwriting this week and based on the fact that her handwriting is amazing, I'm sure the class will be too! She also shared this group of really fun hand letterers to follow on Instagram - get ready to hit that heart button a ton when you check them them out.
{Jones Design Company}

2 | I so identified with Emily's post on living big after living small. Though our new house is on the smaller side (1200 square feet of finished space plus an unfinished basement), it's the biggest place we've ever lived in and I can't imagine going bigger right now! Does anyone else feel this way?
{Go Haus Go}

3 | This side table is a DIY! Can you believe it? I love the modern lines and warm wood tones.
{Annabode via Home Made by Carmona}

4 | Have y'all heard about the Limetown podcast? It's like Serial crossed with the X-Files and it'll keep you on the edge of your seat. I finished listening to it the other day and whoa, it was good.

5 | I've been playing with a new online tool called itsums for the past few days and am really loving it - it's a Pinterest-like tool for planning projects. You can enter your budget for the project and then add items to project boards with their prices and it will automatically deduct that amount from the total. Once you purchase an item, you can check it off and itsums will keep track of how much you've spent so far and how much you have left of the budget. Pretty cool!

6 | We're in the very early stages of planning a kitchen reno and I've been inspiration-shopping like crazy. There's one thing I know I want so far: white, shaker-style cabinetry. I love this farmhouse meets midcentury meets modern kitchen. It definitely feels like the vibe I'm going for!
{Style Files}
I hope y'all have awesome weekends. For those of you local to the Philly area, I'll be teaching a Make It Take It workshop at the Philly Home Show at 3pm on Saturday - I'd love to see you there!

Lovely Links

Happy Friday y'all! Did you have good weeks? Here in Philly, the whole city is currently preparing for the Pope's arrival - the security measures are through the roof. I kind of feel like we're living in a police state...which makes me grateful I don't actually live in a police state :). Anyway, I digress. It's been a couple of weeks since my last Lovely Links post, and I think it's high time I shared some eye candy with you along with some deep thoughts for your weekend. Enjoy!

1 | Need a quick weekend project? Check out this faux marble shelf from Shannon Claire (Burlap and Lace)!

{Shannon Claire}
2 | Kate rounded up some awesome patterned curtain panels under $50.

{West Elm}
3 | Emily shared some really awesome words about contentment and blogging this week. I struggle to find balance when it comes to blogging and juggling all the other life things. On one hand, I feel like I "should" be doing more since that's what bloggers these days do, but on the other hand, I'm kind of happy with the way things are going now. It was good to hear someone else say she's content being content if you know what I mean.

{Lonny}
4 | I enjoyed taking a peek at this rustic-meets-modern California cottage. White and wood, and a mix of modern and traditional pieces had me immediately intrigued.

{Rue Mag}

5 | On the total other end of the spectrum, did you catch Pencil Shavings Studio's entryway reveal? Bold wallpaper and COLOR for the win! It's more adventurous than I would usually be, but I love seeing others do bold well.

{Pencil Shavings Studio}
6 | There are so many fall home tours in blogland right now! I loved the simplicity of Shayna's (below).

Happy Weekend!

Lovely Links

Can y'all believe the last "official" weekend of summer is here? Labor Day weekend is always a welcome break, but it also makes me sad that summer is pretty much over (although the weather would say differently!). On a positive note though, Labor Day weekend also brings with it the start of FOOTBALL SEASON! I'll be terribly excited and a nervous wreck on Saturday as Auburn takes on Louisville. What do you have planned for the long weekend?

Before y'all head out, I'm back to share some lovely links with y'all that I hope are inspiring and fun eye candy. Enjoy!

1 | The Bold Abode DIY'd an amazing geometric cedar planked wall. I'm totally in love with that geometric look and how awesome the wood looks!

{The Bold Abode}

2 | I'm totally impressed by Sarah Dorsey's ability to assemble her own light fixtures. These brass sconces are on point.

{Sarah M Dorsey Designs}
3 | Centsational Girl's latest kitchen remodel is gorgeous! I love that she bucked the stainless steel appliance trend too by using white ones.

{Centsational Girl}

4 | Headboards are an essential part of making a bedroom look finished and pulled together, but it doesn't have to be expensive. Here's a list of pretty ones for under $300.

{Designer Trapped in a Lawyer's Body}
5 | On a totally different note, let's talk hair and makeup. Kate's ability to look incredibly pulled together in 15 minutes makes me want to maybe, try a little harder in that area - mostly the hair part. If it only takes 15 minutes, I can totally do that! Practice makes perfect I suppose!

{The Small Things}

6 | Lastly, I wish I had written this post because it describes my relationship with design/decor/DIY so well. I catch myself fighting perfectionism all the time and I need these kinds of posts to keep me in check. #canigetanamen?

{The Decor Fix}

 Happy weekending friends!

Lovely Links

Hello friends! I hope your Fridays are off to a good start. This week has been ca-razy, but with all good things. I did the final part of an install for a client project this week (read more about my e-design services here - they're getting ready to change a bit, so stay tuned!) and we've been busy on a few other side projects as well.

Before we all jet out for the weekend, I've got some Lovely Links to share with my favorite finds. Enjoy!

1 | On a budget, but still want to decorate your home? Check out this great list of sources from Jenna Sue Design.

{Jenna Sue Design}

2 | I shared this great post on fighting for rest from The Nester on my Facebook page, but it's so good, I wanted to put it here too. If you're feeling like a crazy busy person like I am these days, you'll really appreciate this!

{Nesting Place}

3 | Mandi (of Vintage Revivals) posted a 72 hour living room makeover and WOW, it's impressive what she could do with that short amount of time and only "off the rack" items! (Oh, and it's a rental apartment too, so it just goes to show you can make any space beautiful, even if you have to contend with things like many, many vertical blinds.)

{Vintage Revivals}

4 | Ever heard of ice painting? Yeah, me neither. Well it looks like this (below) and you can find out how to do it over here. Pretty cool stuff.

{Aunt Peaches}

5 | I can't believe this is a DIY'd faux marble surface. So impressed!

{Little Green Notebook}

6 | I came across this photo of a dining room on Pinterest this week and fell in love with the mix of traditional and modern elements. It's done SO well here, and I'm keeping this in mind for future dining room decor (when we actually have one someday, ha!).

{Laura Seppanen via SF Girl By Bay}

Happy weekends, everyone!

Lovely Links

First off, thanks to everyone for the kind words about our back patio makeover! I couldn't wait to share it with y'all - it's a space we love so much!

I'm back with a set of pretty, informative and just plain fun links for y'all this week. I bookmark things as I come across them and then share the best of the best with y'all every other week. Enjoy!

1 | This manifesto against the tyranny of luxury kitchens had me giggling and nodding my head in agreement this week (although I'll admit I'm still lusting after a white kitchen!). Victoria Elizabeth Barnes has a way of writing with such great humor and sarcasm while saying what we're all thinking about those fancy kitchens.

{At Home Arkansas}

2 | I've been working hard on a project for an e-design client this week and came across this gorgeous charcoal upholstered nailhead headboard  for a great price at Target. My client ended up choosing another bed, but I figured I'd pass along this beauty to y'all. Plus you can get an extra 10% off right now!

{Target}

3 | Have y'all heard about this Kickstarter campaign for "The World's Best Travel Jacket" that has raised over $1.6 million already? I really, really want one of these. It's brilliant. I've never joined in on the Kickstarter campaigns, but this one might have my money soon.

{Kickstarter}

4 | If you have bookshelves, you need bookends, right? For some reason, I think books look more organized and stylish if they're not stuffed into a bookcase from one side to another (although I totally do that). A little breathing room does a world of good. If you've got some old hardcover books laying around that you don't mind parting with, these DIY book bookends are a super cool idea for your shelves.

{Emily Henderson}

5 | I'm a big fan of Britt Bass's artwork, and although buying an original piece is a bit out of my price range at this point, snagging a notebook or gift wrap with her art on it might be a fun way to bring a little bit of her work into my life!

{Britt Bass}

6 | The idea of vinyl floors usually makes me go ick, but wow, this hex tile look-a-like vinyl looks amazing. I did a double take! I'm curious how they feel underfoot, but they sure do look real nice, are affordable, and are much easier to install than real tile.

Happy Weekends, y'all!

Lovely Links

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you've had good weeks. Time for another round of lovely links - my every-other-week round up of favorite finds and pretties from the web!

1 | Last week, Shayna revealed the "after" of her fixer-upper and MAN, I love it. All white, bright, and modern, but with plenty of character. Can I move in? See the whole thing here (oh, and sources are here).

{The Wood Grain Cottage}
2 | Speaking of beautiful things, there's nothing I enjoy more than wandering through a beautifully curated paper store. Urbanic is definitely one of those. If only I lived in Venice, CA so I could take a tour through it! I guess for now I'll settle for this post full of photos.

{Emily Henderson}
3 | After reading about Studio McGee's trip to Oregon, that state has zoomed its way up my I want to go to there list. Her photos plus food and shopping recommendations plus the wine country that's out there...hmm. Next vacation? Can we stay in this charming shingled home too?

{Studio McGee}
4 | I'm always on the hunt for ways to maximize our small space, and I'm totally taking notes from Apartment Therapy's recent article on entryways.

{Det Dia via Apartment Therapy}
5 | I happen to be a big fan of wall sconces. In rental apartments, they can be tricky to add to a space since you can't hardwire them, but there are some good plugins available out there now that do the trick. (We used some here in our bedroom.) IHeart Organizing managed to install some that look hardwired, but are actually plugged in - an awesome combination! See how she did that here.

{IHeart Organizing}
6 | And lastly, a bathroom makeover! You'd never know that this beautiful vanity started out as a dated, sad-looking wood-toned piece. See the before and after on Centsational Girl.

{Centsational Girl}
Have a great weekend, y'all!

Lovely Links

Hope y'all have had good weeks! Mine's been crazy as we've been settling back into city life in Philly after being at the river for five weeks. That, plus a busy work week have left me exhausted. I am SO glad it's the weekend!

Before heading out for the next couple of days, here are my favorite finds from the past two weeks:

1 | One of my current fave interior designers, Studio McGee, wrote an awesome post about tips on how to pick white paint (trust me, it really is awesome!). Also, she just launched her fabric and pillow line that is gorgeous. You've gotta see it.

{Studio McGee}

2 | Want a simple DIY for the weekend? If you've got a chainsaw and some good sandpaper - oh and a big log - you can make an awesome side table.

{Sarah M. Dorsey Designs for eHow}

3 | How peaceful and serene is this bedroom?

{Front + Main}

4 | More interior design advice - this time from The Hunted Interior - on how to make your home feel cohesive. Good stuff here, folks!

{The Hunted Interior}
5 | I'm adding the wood-look tile in this bathroom makeover to my "dream list" for a future remodel! The look of wood, but the durability of tile? That's a win-win in my book.

6 | And lastly, an outdoor space because our new patio furniture is arriving this weekend! Emily Henderson killed it, as per usual :).

{Emily Henderson}

Happy weekend, y'all!

Lovely Links

Happy Friday, y'all! Here are a few of my favorite finds from around the web this week:

1 | I've mentioned my love of shiplap walls before, but here are so many good examples. I just had to pass this post along :).

{Pencil Shavings Studio via BHG}

2 | Wow. This laundry room. Just wow. (And those Rifle Paper Co. prints? Yes please!)

{Live the Fancy Life}

3 | This house takes indoor-outdoor living to a new level - in a great way - and I love it!

{Inside Out}

4 | Since so many people in my life are having babies, I appreciated this post on baby gifts to give and receive over on the Inspired Room.

{The Inspired Room}

5 | Whoa, these gorgeous pieces of art (like the aqua one below) made of paper feathers are amazing. At first I thought it was a photograph of a juju hat, then I thought it was painted oyster shells and then I read the description :). They're a little out of my price range, but how cool are they?!

{Mondocherry}

6 | And lastly, a tip for you DIY upholsterers out there, here's a tip for getting crisp edges!

{Cuckoo4Design}

Have a great weekend, everyone!
