November 2015 iPhone & Desktop Wallpapers

Better late than never, right? Time for some new iPhone and Desktop wallpapers! November snuck up on me this month since I've been caught up in "project new house"(read more about that exciting announcement here in case you missed it on Monday!) for the past couple of weeks.

But have no fear, I haven't forgotten this monthly freebie. I kept it simple this month with a November banner and calendar and I'm loving it! It's already on my iPhone lock screen. There are two colorways: blue + burnt orange and brown + green.

You can download yours for free below. Just scroll down until you find the iPhone or desktop version that you want and click the link below. It will take you to Dropbox where you can snag your copy.

Enjoy!

September 2015 iPhone + Desktop Wallpapers

Happy Monday and happy last day of August, y'all! This month has been ca-razy busy with vacation, e-design biz stuff and other life happenings, so I am looking forward to turning the page on the calendar to a new month with a fresh start.

To kick things off for the month of September, I've got a new set of iPhone and desktop wallpapers to share with you. These are free downloads (as always) - you can grab the version you'd like below.

This month, my inspiration came from this beautiful ironwork detail I spotted on a balcony not far from where we live in Philadelphia. They just don't make buildings with this kind of detail anymore, do they?!

I snapped the photo above with my iPhone so I wouldn't forget what it looked like. I just had this feeling I'd want to design something with it in mind and it looks like that feeling was right! I'm a big believer that inspiration for creativity can truly come from anywhere.

From that ironwork came this month's "bubbly circles" design. I had fun playing around with the color palettes and decided on the two different muted colorways you can see below. There are versions with September calendars (my favorite for quick reference on my phone's lock screen) and blank ones depending on your preference. Click the link below each image to download it from Dropbox.

Enjoy!

April iPhone Wallpapers & Calendars {Water + Wood}

New month, new wallpapers! Each month I challenge myself to flex my creative muscles and come up with fun new designs for your iPhones (they're not just for iPhones though - they'll work any smartphone!). For April, I tried something a little bit different: I used photographs of two natural textures as the backdrop for the calendars. I love the simplicity and crispness of the water and wood.

A fun fact about both of these? They were both taken on trips to the Caribbean, so seeing both of them brings back wonderful memories! The one of the left (the water) was taken from directly above while I was at the beach in St. Lucia snapping photos of my husband and friends sailing. Gosh that glassy aqua water was gorgeous!

The other was from our trip to St. Barth. The house we stayed in had this beautiful deck made of this gray wood. I'm not sure if it was stained that way or if it "aged" that way naturally, but I'm so glad I snapped a photo of it.

You have a choice of either the calendar or blank version (or both if you'd like!). The blank ones would make great wallpapers year round, and of course the calendar is a handy thing to have on your lock screen for the month of April.

Here's what the blank ones look like for reference:

March 2015 iPhone + Desktop Wallpapers {Pinwheels}

Happy Monday, y'all! Did you have good weekends? We're entering the last week of February, which means March is right around the corner, which also means that we're inching closer and closer to spring! I can't wait to see the temperatures start to rise - hopefully sooner rather than later.

Since February's almost over, it's time for new desktop and iPhone wallpapers! This month's modern geometric pattern was inspired by the simple pinwheel (that colorful little toy that for some reason reminds me of spring). I've had enough of winter's grays - I'm ready for some color in my life!

In case you're curious, the word "March" was hand-lettered by me using my new Wacom Tablet. I'll have to tell y'all more about that handy tool sometime. It's awesome for drawing and hand-lettering in Illustrator.

Once again, I've made versions for both iPhone (or any smart phone...it's just an image file) and desktop, and you can choose to download the wallpaper with or without the calendar. The blank ones can obviously be used throughout the year :).

Here's the iPhone version:

January 2015 iPhone Calendars + Wallpapers

Happy New Year, friends! After a couple of weeks off, I'm back! It was so good to take some time away to be with friends and family, relax and enjoy the  beauty of the holiday season. It was busy, but the good kind of busy, you know? Now that we're back home in Philly, I must admit that I need to take a couple more days to gather my thoughts before jumping back into projects, posts and other blogging stuff, but I wanted to say hello and share my January 2015 iPhone calendar and wallpapers...a few days late...eek! I hope you'll forgive me :).

The first is the standard calendar, which I love having on my lock screen so that I can see the date in a month-at-a-glance format. My favorite part about this month's design? The wavy diagonal lines at the top and bottom. (No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you - they really are a little wavy!)

The second has the phrase "Let's Do This" on it. It seemed appropriate, given the fresh start that the new year brings - it's that time of year when we all get highly motivated to do all the things so why not give ourselves a little encouragement every time we look at our phones? Jump on it!

These two wallpapers are free downloads as always. They each come in two colors: aqua and blue. Just click the link to the one you want while you're on your phone, and you can download the image to use on your lock screen. Full instructions on how to do that are at the end of the post.

Also - these are just images, so they work on other phones besides iPhones of course! The dimensions are just made specifically for the iPhone screen size since that's what I have.

I hope each of your new years are off to a splendid start, and I'll be back later this week with a few thoughts on where the blog might be headed this year, and I can't wait to start getting my hands dirty in project-land again soon!

{Downloads}

How to set the calendar as your lock screen on an iPhone:

  • Click the link below to the download you'd like to use (from your phone). This will take you to the image in Dropbox, where I've set them up for you to download.
  • In the bottom left corner there is an icon that looks like a box with an upward-facing arrow coming out of it. Click that and choose "save image." It will download to your photos.
  • Go to your home screen and open your photos.
  • Select the calendar image.
  • Again click the button in the bottom left corner that looks like a box with an upward-facing arrow. Select the option that says "use as wallpaper."
  • Click set, then choose "lock screen."

August 2014 iPhone Lock Screen Wallpaper

Hey y'all! We're still in the midst of moving chaos over here, so I don't have a house update for y'all quite yet, but what I do have is a fun, free download for you. Since August is just a couple of days away, I thought I'd put together an iPhone lock screen wallpaper for you like I have in the past. I skipped making one for July (oops), but I'm back on track with August! I made some simple blue, coral and mint washi tape to put on two corners of this simple calendar. Pretty cute, don't you think?

It's designed for iPhone 5, but you can use the image on any phone. Just click on over here and download the photo to your phone, set it as the lock screen (resize it if necessary for your background) and you'll be good to go.

{Freebie} April iPhone Wallpaper

It may not quite be April yet, but some of y'all may be planners like me and find it handy to have a way to quickly glance at the month ahead. I love having a monthly calendar as my iPhone lock screen, so I designed these simple ones for April that y'all can download for free(!) {links at the bottom of the post}.

I chose two bright colors - pink and teal - since they just felt like spring to me. March weather has been so finicky in my neck of the woods - one day it's 65 and sunny and the next we get 7 inches of snow. I'm not afraid to say that I'm ready for spring to stick around for good. No more of this weather roller coaster thankyouverymuch.

The pink I chose reminds me of the cherry blossoms that are soon to bloom here in DC around the Tidal Basin. If you're wondering if they're really as breathtaking as every says they are, they are. Trust me

The teal I went with felt like a fresh take on green. (Fresh...green...get it?! Couldn't help the pun. Sorry!) Green is an obvious spring color choice, but the teal...it's like the sophisticated cousin of green. You trackin' with me on that?

So while we're on the subject of the month of April - it's going to be a little crazy town around here. We're traveling a couple of the weekends and then at the end of the month we move! We're packing up our itty bitty DC apartment, putting our stuff in storage and moving to the river house for a few months until we head to Philadelphia in July. Life is happening around here, y'all. Lots of life. It may be a little quiet on the blog for the next bit, and there may not be as many posts on the ole blog, but I'm still here! If you have any moving tips, please send them my way. And pray for a smooth transition too, if you think about it :).

Note Card Advent Calendar {Free Printable}

With Thanksgiving being so late this year, Advent is right around the corner - 10 days from today to be exact! I love the season of Advent and preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus. The month of December is typically a busy season full of parties, get-togethers with friends and family, travel, etc., but I relish the chance to take time to remember the why of the season for the 24 days leading up to Christmas. To me, the story of Jesus is the most important story of all time, so it's worth setting aside time to look at it more closely.

To do that, I designed a set of simple gold and white note cards that function as an Advent calendar. There are 25 cards in all. Each card has a title and a scripture passage that corresponds to a short reading (two pages) from John Piper's "Good News of Great Joy" free PDF book that walks through the story of Advent and why the story of Jesus is so important. My set of cards corresponds to the 2012 version, but the 2013 version is out now as well if you happen to have used the 2012 version last year - just know that it doesn't match the references on my set of note cards!

I'd love for this set of note cards to go out to as many people as possible this year, so I'm offering them as a free download so y'all can print them at home. Use them with your family if you'd like, and give a few sets away as gifts with a the link to John Piper's book. Wrap a pretty ribbon around them and hand them out to friends and family. It's an inexpensive but meaningful gift that they can use during this Advent season.

The calendar is designed to print to 3x5 note cards. To print, download the PDF file here (or click the image below), open it, and hit the print button. Choose 3x5 card as the print size (mine had that option as a default, so I'm assuming most printers do too!), put 25 blank 3x5 cards in the printer tray and click print. If you have any issues, let me know and I'll be happy to help you troubleshoot.

I hope that you enjoy this Advent calendar. Join me in preparing for this season of joy! I'll be back tomorrow with a round-up of my favorite Advent calendars from around the web - there are so many pretty ones out there this year!

Do you have any Advent traditions? What are you most excited about for this upcoming season?
