River Living Room Update With Holly & Martin {New Cocktail Table!}

We're been at the river house for nearly a month now, and are loving our temporary abode and slower-paced life. Spending quiet evenings on the screen porch, weekend afternoons on the boat, and living simply have become our new normal...at least for the next couple of months! Though this house isn't "ours," we have found ways to make it feel like home and we are very grateful to be able to call it home base this summer.

If you've been reading this little blog for any length of time, you know I've always got a project or an idea up my sleeve, and just because we aren't living in a home that belongs to us doesn't mean I'm going to put my creative side on the back-burner. I think this recent light fixture makeover is evidence of that :). So when Holly & Martin contacted me recently about reviewing one of their super fun, modern pieces of furniture, you better believe I said yes and immediately got to thinking about where I could incorporate it into the river house decor while we're here. I chose the Lydock cocktail table and I've gotta say, I loved it right out of the box.

Remember this pretty living room I showed y'all a few months ago? Well, I knew this piece would look perfect in-between the two white sofas, and I had a blast pulling accessories from all over the house to style it. Of course, this is its temporary home (it'll come with us to Philly), but I've gotta say, it looks good in there!

In terms of size, it's actually larger than I anticipated, and it takes up a good chunk of space, but I think the large seating area in the living room can support a table of that size. It has an open base, which keeps it feeling airy and open, which I really like too.

I've always wanted a white, lacquered piece of furniture, so this certainly fits the bill. The thing that sets it apart and makes it unique though? The small, darker wood section on the far end. It's so unexpected, but I totally dig it.

I went with a "loose coastal" theme when styling this piece. The house has that vibe anyway (it is on the water, after all) so there were lots of items to choose from when it came to accessories. Shells? Check. Copies of Coastal Living? Check. Subtle fish motif? Check.

I also pulled some greenery from the yard (oh to have a yard! it's a luxury for this city-dweller). All I did was snip some budding tree branches and a few flowering stems, loosely arranged them in a mason jar, and stuck them in a tall basket I found in the garage for a makeshift vase. Perfectly imperfect and a little wild - a lovely complement to the clean lines and 90-degree angles of the coffee table.

Overall, I'm really pleased with the Lydock cocktail table. I can't wait to incorporate it into our home in Philly in a couple of months!

And guess what? I'm not the only one who gets to enjoy this lovely table. NEXT WEDNESDAY, come on back because I'll be giving away one of these to one of YOU thanks to Holly & Martin!

Full disclosure: Holly & Martin provided me with the cocktail table in exchange for this review but, as always, my opinions expressed here are 100% my own.

  8. I absolutely love the décor, it is so calming and relaxing. The kind of place you would want to stay at when you are stressed. I want to take some time out myself after I am done with my final year research project. The stress is unbearable, I think I might be using dissertation service UK because I do not think I can complete it on time with the amount of research it requires.
