River House Tour {Living Room}

My parents bought a house on a river a few years ago and it has quickly become my (and my husband's!) favorite place to escape for a little time away from the busy city. It's so relaxing there - not just because the house is on the water, but because my parents designed it to be super comfortable and inviting. It's definitely got that coastal cottage farmhouse vibe going on with a mix of antique or vintage family pieces, thrifted finds and new pieces. I've been dying to give y'all a little tour of some of the rooms for awhile now, and I finally got the chance to snap some photos a few weeks ago when we were there. Today I'll show you the main living room and tomorrow I'll share the dining room and den.

Come on in, y'all!

Welcome to the living room. Doesn't it just make you want to put your feet up, get cozy and hang out by the fire? Lots of reading and chatting happens here. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent as close to that fireplace as possible when it's cold out! The white slipcovered sofas are new, but the ottoman and coral chairs are thrifted finds my mom recovered.

These animal print chairs are such a fun dose of color, and are a good representation of the light aqua, coral and white color scheme my parents chose for most of the house.

Here's a fun fact about the set of four prints in the photo below: they belonged to the previous owners. My parents bought the house from an estate, and before they closed, the previous owners' children held an estate sale to sell all the household items they didn't want. My parents ended up buying several things and they stayed right in the house after the sale. No moving needed! :)

I just love this lobster pillow. Isn't he fun?

Off to one side of the main seating area is one of my favorite places in the entire house. It has two big ole comfy club chairs that swivel and rock. I know, I just totally blew your mind with that one. Since the windows you see in the photo below face the water, it's a great place to catch a glimpse of the view.

If you look closely out the windows, you can see the boat and the water...

The house also faces west, so we get glorious sunsets every evening like this one:

Gorgeous!

That wraps up the living room tour. Come back tomorrow for the dining room and den! The dining room and den tour can be found here! Come on over :).

I've also done several of my favorite DIY projects during my time at the river. Here they are if you'd like to check them out!
