Update: Hand-Painted Sign Installed!

Remember back at the end of March when I showed you the house sign I hand-painted for my parents? Well it finally made it to its "real home" at my parents' river house. It now lives happily at the edge of the driveway. I installed it last weekend and it looks great!

{Again, for privacy's sake, I Photoshopped out their house number, so apologies if that part doesn't  look hand-painted - because it isn't!}

As you can see from the photos, I hung it using two small screw eyes and two screw links. For the sign post, I picked up one of the garden flag stands/holders. It was the perfect width for my sign. I just stuck it in the ground right at the end of the white fence by the mouth of the driveway and called it a day.

Funny story - this sign was actually a Christmas present for my dad. It was only four months late (oops!), but I think it was worth the wait. Here we are after the installation was complete:

Yay! I'm really happy with the way it turned out, and he is too - which is the most important part!

P.S. If you'd like to read the story behind the sign, head over to this post. If you'd like to make a hand-painted sign yourself, I posted a how-to on this post.

  2. Two more leafy atcs for the Embroiderer's Assoc. of Canada atc challenge that's happening in April. The picture makes them look very flat but I used the soldering iron on both of these to make raised leaves.white vinyl fence
