I mentioned my obsession with pretty light fixtures yesterday, and today I wanted to make sure you didn't miss this one I spotted this week. It's one of the entries from a DIY blog contest called Creating With The Stars (CWTS for short), and in my opinion, it's amazing. The "theme" for this week's projects was upcycling, and this project uses a material interior designers typically want to get out of a room as quickly as possible. Take a look:
Now that's what I call a statement piece! And you'll never guess what she made those arms out of - egg crate diffusers! (Those terrible plastic grid-looking fluorescent light covers you see in places like offices and schools.) She used the grid to her advantage as a guide - it's like 3D graph paper - to cut out the pattern for the arms. There aren't a ton of details on how she made this fixture yet - I think a tutorial is coming later this week? I'll let you know if they post one. Head on over to East Coast Creative to check out this project (#10) and more of the impressive entries to Creating With The Stars.
This contest is sort of like Design Star, but it's all DIY projects completed by bloggers. You can vote each week to choose the winning project, which is super fun. This was my definitely my favorite project from this week's entries.
Have a great Wednesday!
