Hooray for closing the books on this one! Our bathroom organization makeover is 99% complete! I've got lots of photos and details for you today - longish post alert - but I think you'll like what you see. Before you read on, you might want to start with this post if you missed the "before" photos earlier this week. I've got a few before and after shots paired together at the end too for your viewing pleasure.
Let's start with the star of the show, shall we? Our over-the-toilet etagere received the most attention in this makeover, and I'm loving the finished product:
{sorry 'bout the glare on the glass - arg.}
With the doors open, you get a much better view of the contents in all their pretty and organized glory...and you can see my favorite part of this makeover - the new dandelion patterned fabric lining the back! This cabinet definitely needed a punch of pattern, and I was so happy that I could use a remnant of fabric I already had on hand for the project.
Our mess of towels even got organized. Those two brown boxes are containers I already had (Target several years ago - they don't have brown anymore). I decided to only keep our set of white towels (wedding gift from Pottery Barn) in the bathroom and keep our other older, mismatched towels in our bedroom closet. We typically only used those to dry the dog off after a bath anyway. I love that the bath towels are now neatly rolled up instead of stacked on top of each other, ready to fall at any second.
The other towel rack on the right side has hand towels, washcloths, and an extra bath mat (again, only the white ones made the cut!).
Let's look at some closer shots of the etagere so we can see its contents, which got a major overhaul. Lots of things moved to a different location (under the sink - we'll get there in a minute), and some things moved off of the dresser in our bedroom and into the bathroom - love having a less cluttered dresser. Hopefully this will suit our needs well and we'll be able to find things more easily. I'm gonna be honest here though, I pretty much took over this space with my "girl things" - hardly any of my husband's things are in here anymore! Heck, he doesn't have much, sooo I'm thinking he'll be ok with that. Right, honey?
On the top shelf, we have medicines - corralled on a silver tray - and first aid items. The middle shelf has tissues, my nail supplies, and sunscreen.
Were you wondering what was in that pretty little mercury glass container on the top left? Betcha didn't guess it was band-aids! I don't see a reason why band-aids shouldn't get a pretty container. Do you?
Nail supplies live on this small tray, while another mercury glass container holds nail files and cotton pads.
The bottom shelf has short glasses (thrifted) with my fun jewelry and a small plastic container (Container Store) with divided compartments for my earrings and small necklaces. I added a piece of washi tape around the edge for fun.
Now onto the less pretty, but oh-so-essential under-the-sink storage. My hair appliances and styling products are all in that basket on the left. Behind it are extra toilet paper and tissues. Cleaning supplies have been restocked and have a home in that clear container in the middle.
I cleaned out, threw out, and consolidated all of our extra bathroom supplies, which now live in those two matching plastic storage boxes. I think I'll make an inventory to stick on each one so we can keep track of what we have and what we're running low on (for example, I know we need shampoo right now). Our supply of travel sized toiletries is in a gallon-sized bag in the bottom box. Now that they're all in one place, we can easily grab what we need when we're getting ready to travel. Toiletry bags sit on top of those boxes, now where before, they were in the over-the-toilet etagere. They didn't need to be on display, so under the sink they went.
Now for the grand finale, we have side-by-side before and after photos!

Under-the-sink storage:
Yay! I'm so glad to be done with this, and I'm so happy with the way it turned out. Hopefully it will stay organized for a long, long time. :)
Have a great weekend, y'all!

DeleteI so need to reorganize my bathroom closet! It's such a mess. I like the idea off using glasses for storing "need to see" items. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks, Khloe! That's so kind of you! I'll definitely check it out. Have a great rest of your week!
DeleteCame over from Jen's. Love the transformation. We recently painted our daughter's bathroom, and I am debating about putting a mirror back up, but now I am thinking I might have to find an etagere instead. Love all the storage!! I am now following along. Love the title of your blog too!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you! Thanks for stopping by. I'll have to check out your blog too! We definitely get a lot of storage out of that piece of furniture...it's lived in two different apartments with us now, and I don't think it'll leave any time soon.
DeleteWhere did you get your over the toilet organizer?
ReplyDeleteWe got ours from Bed Bath and Beyond. I just checked the website, and they don't seem to have that particular one anymore (maybe you could find it in the store?), but have other similar ones. Look under bathroom storage on their site. They also carry them at places like Target and Walmart. Hope that helps!
